Formal elements:
- Objectives: So for our survival game the objective is to be the one last one standing or to escape the island. While playing you will come across resources that will help or decrease your chance of surviving the island. Our game relates to the board game of risk because it's a game of being the last one standing. Risk and our survival game both have the objective of outliving the rest of your enemies, But our games are different because in risk you are trying too conquer the other player while in our game the objective is to outlive everyone by playing smart and using your resources wisely.
- Outcome: For our game you want the outcome to be you being the last one on the table. You will use the resources you find on the board to find your way to being the last one standing. our has a much different outcome then how many board games are played. For example in the game sorry the outcome you want is for your pieces to be the first ones off the board, while in our game you want your pieces to be the last one on.
Engament:
- Challenge: The challenge in our game is to find the right resources while still managing to try to be the last one standing. Depending on where you land on the board all depending on the outcome and the action of the resource you just gained. Our challenge is much different than a game like monopoly which is too try to gain all thee properties. The only similarity we have between our game and monopoly is player for yourself there is no teams.
- Story: The story of our game is that you get stranded on the island and the only way you will survive is if you can out resource you opponents and be the last one standing. The last one standing is able to be freed and will be able return to life. Our game has no other comparable stories like ours. But a game that has a story is a game like clue.
Two Points:
Story and Outcome all playing into the point in my ten most important list for game design, which is narrative. These factors play into narrative because without a story there would be no narrative. and with no outcomes of things there would be no interesting factors in the narrative
Discovery is one of the more important factors to game design on my list Without challenges or objectives there would be no incentive to discovery the game or the lessons that come along with the game.
